—I am probably more likely to be misunderstood online than I am if I were talking in person. It is very hard to grasp the tone of my typing, in fact, pretty much impossible unless I am very detailed in my blogs. Also, the fact that you can not understand certain verbal aspects such as sarcasm or ambiguity also makes it hard to decipher my certain ways of expressing my first amendment rights!

The US Department of Transportation met earlier this week with select members of the aviation industry to discuss airline regulation! Wait, a minute? Government taking control of more privately owned assets? Hm, does any one else see a trend here? The president from the Airline Pilots Association is not for this and frankly, neither should any of you! Soon, they are going to assign routes that only certain airlines will be “permitted” to fly. They will fix ticket prices (might be good for consumer but airline will suffer major losses and need more of OUR money to keep them flying. Just think…you are a person who has never flown before yet you have an imaginary bought ticket flying you to St. Maarten with your tax dollars). Heck, it is nice to see my tax dollars working at NASA…at least we actually get to WATCH our cash go into space. Please Big Brother (US GOVT), do not regulate our transportation and our rights to chose what airline we are allowed to take!!!!!!

It is very obvious that we are at war today. You really can’t chomp around this cookie’s center, we are at war. Not only are we at war in one country, we are at war in TWO!! A logistical nightmare if you ask me! The US Army does a fantasic job at maintaining accountability of all equipment as well as weapon’s research and development. The most recent endeavor the Army has taken towards unmanned aerial aviation aircraft! WOW! An unmanned helicopter? They’ve done it again, contracting out a company to delevop a highspeed auto-gyro concpets that is exceptional! Unfortunately, licensing such an aircraft with these contractors has become a bit of a problem. The company wants to sell the UAH as a kit-plane where the Army wants to use the aircraft for surveillance and cargo transport. The goal of this company is to develop a helicopter that will be able to reach a forward speed of 500mph while maintaining a rotor speed of only 100mph….interesting. I am no engineer but that sounds like a design headache!

Hello…Well what can I say? General aviation is either going to completely flourish in the coming years or completely crumble under our feet thanks to the new bill in Congress. It is scary to think that soon, the hour/certification requirements may be raised to such an extent that we will no longer be able to have students from an accredited university jump into a comfy regional airline job. I mean…an ATP rating?! Come on!! The requirements of such a “prestigious” rating is not only unattainable by the age of 23 (on of the requirements) but very expenisve. General aviation for the time being is a free service. But what will happen if one day there are ATC fees implemented on us pilots? Are we supposed to fly in the air w/ our Visa credit card in hand? Congress has a lot to think about before they enact this bill and I hope that they will realize that they are making a mistake that will motally wound general aviation and the possibiliy of airlines to flourish in the future? Has one ever come to think that maybe it is the airline’s fault for the recent incidents? Perhaps they are overworking their pilots? Perhaps pertinent courses such as CRM training aren’t being taken seriously? United 173 and the Tenerife disaster prove that they are an intrical asset in the cockpit! There have been plenty of times where the First Officer has saved the Captain’s bacon!
